Sea Island Cotton stands out as the rarest and most precious type of cotton globally. While approximately 110 million bales of cotton are cultivated annually, only 2 million possess an extra-long staple. However, the truly exceptional aspect lies in the mere 150 bales of Sea Island cotton produced each year, constituting a mere 0.0004% of the world's cotton production.

     

Scientifically named "gossypium barbadense," West Indian Sea Island Cotton is also known as "Black Seed."
