Valet stand in walnut, bronze and leather

The Steward

A valet stand that holds a suit the way it was cut to be held — shoulders supported on a solid walnut yoke, trousers hung straight from a bronze bar, shoes set down on a leather deck. A pivoting mirror above, a fitted tray for a watch and cufflinks below. It asks for one corner of a room and gives back a garment that keeps its shape for years. The valet service — shoe trees, shoe horn, brush, cloth and cream — is offered separately, each piece made to sit in its tray.

Craftsmanship

The shoulder yoke is carved from a single piece of walnut to the same curve the atelier uses for a jacket shoulder — so a coat rests on it in its own line, not pulled out of shape. Every joint is cut and fitted by hand; the height adjusts on bronze collars turned to tolerance, without a single visible screw at the front. The tray is set into a bronze surround and lined in hand-cut leather, sized to take a watch, a pair of cufflinks and the House's valet service.

The Story

A suit is undone by the hours it spends off the body, not the hours on it. The Steward exists for those hours. It is the object that quietly does the work while you sleep, and the one your son will still be using when the suit is his.

Materials

Solid European walnut
Air-dried for years before it is cut, then hand-shaped and oiled so the grain deepens rather than fades with age.
Solid bronze hardware
Bars, pivots and plaques turned from solid bronze — never plated. It will darken slowly with handling, and that patina is the point.
Hand-cut leather decks
The shoe deck and valet tray are lined in textured leather, cut and set by hand so nothing laid down is ever scratched.
